Our QSO started out at about 10 watts on FT4 @ 20 meters this evening after I noticed that some guys in Japan were able to hear me!
After a few missed connections, I bumped it up to 35 watts on my icom 7100 using my home-made 49:1 balun/transformer with about 66 feet of stealth wire.
I could probably have left it at 10 wats, but whatever, I salivate at DX.
Seconds later I see my name show up in his logs in QRZ so I uploaded mine and we sealed the deal.
