So Kristi and I tried to do a POTA.
Nope. We walked around Waneka Lake and I called CQ on 146.520 to no avail. There was a point where I could hear a QSO of someone else’s activation for something but it was in and out so I could’t figure out if he was doing a SOTA or not. Probably SOTA around here.
We didn’t try other parks that were higher (and better line of sight for VHF )due to the high winds. We were going to try a few easy SOTA’s but maybe another day.
There were a few projects going on which was fun to see.
One was some kids clearing a path for maybe a boardwalk to be built for bird watching.
Another project was the installation of solar on to a bird watching shack. I stopped and talked to the guys about their solar setup. Really fun.
At least we got out and walked around the lake which was fun.
